The Photographic Prints

Kaplan
Copyright Albert Kaplan 1983

The negative employed was made at the George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film, Rochester, New York, under exacting laboratory conditions. Because the daguerreotype plate is laterally inverted, the negative was flipped in the printing process thereby presenting the viewer with the life image of modern photography.

The selenium toned (to optimally enhance both image color and stability) prints are made by Mr. Michel Hager of Museum Photographics, also of Rochester, New York, using Kodak Polymax II RC paper.  These prints are the highest quality reproductions possible.  Mr. Hager, a member of the faculties of the George Eastman House, and the Rochester Institute of Technology, is a recognized photographic printing authority. His company specializes in such services for museums, libraries, and historical societies.

The image is unretouched.  The prints reflect the plate in its original state.
